Friday, November 1, 2024, Bar & Restaurant ZIVAGO, Oulu
In the cozy atmospheric setting of the Zivago Bar & Restaurant, on the evening of Friday, November 1st, a very special event for the local Polish community took place – a literary event with the young writer from Częstochowa, Mr. Jakub Bartecki.
The literary meeting was hosted by Arek Ćwiek, who, through an engaging conversation, allowed the participants not only to get to know the author better and learn a bit about the content of his book Czeski Leżak, but above all, to gain insight into the process of writing it.
The entire evening was filled with questions from the audience and interesting anecdotes, which were part of a lively discussion lasting almost three hours. There were difficult questions, as the book touches on challenging topics, but also funny stories that accompanied its creation.
The whole evening can be summed up in two words used by the participants – magical and inspiring. And despite the cold weather typical for this time of year in Oulu, the event was full of warmth and openness from the local Polish community, who welcomed Mr. Jakub Bartecki not only with open arms but also with open minds! We are all eagerly awaiting his first novel and look forward to discussing it at the next literary event.
This extraordinary meeting with contemporary Polish literature was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland as part of the “Polonia and Poles Abroad 2024” program, and with the support of the city of Oulu.
We thank all participants and the engaged institutions for their support and presence. It is thanks to you that such events are possible!
