Four years ago, the Polish community living in Northern Finland organized the first St. Nicholas Day event for Polish families. This event became the spark that started the Polish Association in Northern Finland and has since become one of the favorite gatherings in our association’s annual event calendar.
This year, we were able to offer participants of the Mikołajki event two types of workshops – arts and crafts, led by Anastazja and Maciej, where children and their guardians created beautiful Christmas decorations together. The second workshop, led by Ewa, invited everyone to learn and wrap gifts in a very beautiful and original way.
For the first time in history, we had the opportunity to listen to a Christmas song concert and sing Polish carols together with Kuba, Maciej, and Kasia Radek, who, through their music, introduced us to a truly festive and joyful mood. And all of this took place amidst beautiful Christmas decorations and delicious food prepared by the well-known and beloved kajtering .
Mikołajki wouldn’t have been the same without a visit from Santa Claus! This year, he graced us with his presence, chatted with children and adults, and gifted the youngest with delicious Toruń gingerbread.
This extraordinary evening, full of Christmas warmth and the friendly atmosphere that connects the Polish community in Northern Finland, was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland as part of the “Polonia and Poles Abroad 2024” program, and with the support of the city of Oulu.
We thank all the participants and involved institutions for their support and presence. It is thanks to you that such events are possible!
