20 – 21 September 2025, Helsinki
On 20–21 September in Helsinki, the first training within the “Safe Polonia” program was conducted by the DiversityPL Foundation from Sopot. The program combined topics of mental health and crisis support with counteracting discrimination and promoting inclusive language.
Participants gained knowledge about risk factors (such as depression and alienation), learned how to talk with people in crisis, and explored intervention procedures. They also worked with the Przemocownik tool under the guidance of Danuta Sowińska and Subcom. Ewelina Szulczak. In the section on counteracting discrimination, they analyzed its causes and effects, learned inclusive language, and developed communication skills during workshops led by Dr. Kosma Kołodziej and Kasia Mikołajewska.

Each participant received a set of materials: the brochure “Counteracting depression, alienation and discrimination”, the book “On Violence. Conversations with Shame” co-authored by Danuta Sowińska, and the brochure by Subcom. Ewelina Szulczak on preventing violence.
The training was intensive, inspiring, and very practical. We thank all participants for their commitment, interesting discussions, and shared reflections on stereotypes and perceptions about Nordic countries.
🇵🇱 The project is co-financed by the state budget as part of the Senate of the Republic of Poland’s support for the Polish community abroad.
