Celebrating Fat Thursday together has become a tradition for the Association of Poles in Northern Finland – this year it took place for the fourth time!
Just like last year, our event was divided into two parts: workshops – where we cooked together, and a tasting – where we enjoyed delicious, fresh doughnuts and angel wings – faworki.
This year, for the first time, “Fat Thursday *on Saturday” was held on the weekend before the official date of the holiday in the Polish calendar – apparently, we just couldn’t wait any longer!
As in previous years, there was no shortage of people eager to work – both big and small! Our kitchen in Kumppanuuskeskus was constantly busy. We prepared the dough, rolled and folded the angel wings, made the doughnuts, fried them, and then filled them with delicious jams and preserves, glazed and sugar-coated them… There was plenty of work, but our invaluable SPPF volunteers did an amazing job!
Thanks to a poll conducted a few days before the event on social media, we focused on frying the most favorite doughnuts in our community – filled with fried cherries, orange preserves, and Nutella. They were all absolutely delicious!
Thanks to the financial support of the city of Oulu, this event was free and open to all interested.
We invite you to join us for another Fat Thursday organized by SPPF next year!
